The Development and Reform Commission of Gansu province recently announced this year's major construction projects, which will drive investment and promote the high-quality development of the area.

Many projects pertaining to the Lanzhou New Area, the first new state-level development area in northwestern China, were on the list, including five newly-commenced projects, 15 continued projects and a preparatory project.

The projects cover industrial transformation and upgrading, technological innovation, improvement of people's livelihoods, urban infrastructure, transportation and logistics, and environmental protection.

The first phase of the ecological restoration demonstration project for the upper reaches of the Yellow River, as well as an elderly rehabilitation area affiliated to Gansu Provincial People's Hospital, are among the 234 approved items.
