For many years, there have been a lot of stories about sheepskin rafts in Lanzhou, Gansu province. Many are on everybody's lips in the form of folk songs or memorized through folk activities.

In 2006, the Lanzhou sheepskin raft was listed as a provincial cultural heritage.
