Shifogou welcomes tourists every year for leisure and vacations. Over the next seven years, an ecotourism demonstration zone project is expected to be completed in three phases. The first phase plans a 69,508-square meter construction area for a tourist service center, boutique B&Bs, inns, hotel resorts and a performing arts center.

Since its restoration, Lanzhou Old Street has become an internet-famous tour destination in the city. It has attracted 160 merchants, as well as time-honored brands to the old street, receiving a steady stream of old and new customers.
The region continues to promote its local folk culture by holding intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, Chinese New Year lantern displays, and cultural performances.
In addition, the district has raised its profile by carrying out large-scale cultural and tourism promotion activities, such as the Yellow River Cultural Tourism Festival and the Lanzhou Lily Cultural Tourism Festival.
