Glowing dark-red fruit hang like agates on the branches of 2,000 cherry trees during the cherry picking-up festival in Honggu district, Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, making for a perfect getaway.

The brightly-colored fruits, renowned for their size, delicious taste and nutritional value, attract many residents to go on a parent-child trip.
In the local sightseeing agricultural park, cherry farming covers 60 hectares, with a third of land set aside for greenhouses and two thirds for open-air fields. They are expected to help local villagers increase their income and find a way to advance rural vitalization.

"The picking festival will last until the end of July. After that, grapes will ripen, and greenhouse-grown strawberries are expected to enter harvest season in winter," said an agribusiness manager, "residents can enjoy fruit-picking all year round."
