Gansu unveils tourism goals for 2024

The Gansu province culture and tourism work conference for the year was held in Lanzhou on Jan 8, 2024. It summed up the accomplishments of culture and tourism in 2023 and outlined the key tasks for 2024.

In 2023, Gansu received 388 million tourists and generated tourism revenue of 274.58 billion yuan ($38.15 billion). This represented an increase of 187.8 percent and 312.9 percent year-on-year, respectively. The growth rate far exceeded the national average, and the figures were 104  percent and 102.4 percent of the same period in 2019.

In 2024, the province is projected to welcome 430 million tourists and generate revenue of 325 billion yuan ($45.16 billion), representing a 15 percent and 25 percent increase, respectively.

Furthermore, the Culture and Tourism Department of Gansu will strengthen publicity and marketing activities to attract more visitors. Innovative content and methods will be used to enhance the influence of the Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, Fuxi Memorial Ceremony, and Dunhuang Tour-Silk Road International Tourism Festival, among many key events.
