At the 2024 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships held on April 21, Peng Li, an athlete from Lanzhou University School of Management, completed the race in 1 hour, 33 minutes, and 2 seconds. Her outstanding performance secured the gold medal for the Chinese team in this event.
Previously, at the 2024 World Athletics Race Walking Tour - the first station of the National Race Walking Grand Prix and the selection event for the Paris Olympics, Peng Li clinched the second place in the women's 20km race walking event for seniors. This achievement not only met the qualification standards for the 2024 Paris Olympics but also marked her as the first individual from Lanzhou University to achieve an Olympic qualifying standard.
Peng Li expressed, "Since being selected for the national team last September, I have been training rigorously and adjusting my condition, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to compete for my country. Winning a gold medal representing China in international competition makes me incredibly proud!"
This breakthrough performance not only highlights the school's exceptional strength in international athletics competitions but also marks a historic achievement for Lanzhou University in securing its first gold medal in an official Olympic event.
