According to data from Lanzhou Customs, Gansu province's export of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) reached 52.61 million yuan ($7.31 million) from January to July 2024, marking a 68.58 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The province has now successfully expanded its export market to 11 countries and regions worldwide.

Leveraging local industrial clustering, Lanzhou Customs is supporting the province-wide TCM revitalization project to boost economic growth. To address challenges in meeting international standards, Tianshui Customs has established a specialized TCM export task force. This team collects and disseminates information on technical regulations and endangered species policies to help enterprises navigate foreign market requirements.

The task force also provides early guidance on cultivation practices, focusing on pesticide control and supporting leading TCM companies in enhancing their quality management systems. These efforts aim to improve overall quality control and traceability in the TCM industry.

This comprehensive approach not only enhances the competitiveness of Gansu's Chinese medicine industry in the global market but also contributes to the sustainable development of this traditional sector in a modern context.
