A landmark urban renewal initiative celebrating the cultural legacy of the Yellow River has been completed in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province.
The Yellow River Cultural Display Park opened to the public on Sept 29, 2024. Strategically positioned between the Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park and the Nanbinhe East Road, it serves as a key section of Lanzhou's 100-kilometer Yellow River Scenic Belt.
The park stretches 758 meters in length and varying in width from 66 to 120 meters. With its tree-lined walkways and immersive cultural installations, the park offers both residents and visitors a vibrant space for leisure and cultural engagement.
Centered on the province's renowned painted pottery culture, the display integrates elements such as bamboo slips (ancient manuscripts), flowing river motifs, and classical poetry inspired by the Yellow River. These artistic and historical features work together to bring Gansu's cultural identity to life.
The project aims to enhance the scenic belt's role as both a recreational destination and cultural landmark. It also reflects Lanzhou's broader vision of harmonizing ecological development with cultural enrichment, breathing new life into the banks of the Yellow River.
