As a dessert from Lanzhou, milk egg laozao (a type of fermented rice wine) is a loved local treat. It is made by simmering milk, eggs, and laozao.
To make it, bring laozao and milk to a boil. Drizzle in beaten egg to make egg swirls. Add raisins, goji berries, peanuts, and a bit of sugar. Top it off with black and white sesame seeds.
The dish has a nice mix of yellow and white. It's smooth and tender, with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor.
