Lanzhouxi (Lanzhou West) Railway Station is located in Qilihe district, Lanzhou city. It is under the jurisdiction of the China Railway Lanzhou Bureau Group Co, Ltd, and is the largest network-type railway passenger terminal hub in West China and one of the top ten regional passenger transport centers planned by China State Railway Group Co, Ltd.
Construction of the station began in 2009. On March 24, 2014, the station's main body was completed, and on Dec 26, 2014, the entire station was officially operational.
The thee-storey station building is divided into an elevated waiting storey, a platform storey, and an exit storey, with inter-layers provided between some areas. The functional layout is "on-the-floor entry from north and south, waiting at elevated storey, exit from underground". The passenger flow pattern is "enter aboveground and exit underground, enter from north and south, and exit from east and west".
As of Sept 1, 2017, the total construction area of the station was about 260,000 square meters, with 13 platforms and 28 lines.
As a comprehensive transportation hub, the station integrates high-speed rail, intercity, subway, long-distance passenger transportation, bus, taxi, and more. It has multiple values including as an urban transportation core, a hub economic complex, and high commercial investment potential, and has become Lanzhou’s second center of economic growth.
It is of great significance in promoting urban planning and improving the comprehensive transportation system in the region, as it will transform Lanzhou from a single-centered to a multi-centered city, drive the rapid development of local economy, and boost regional economy in Gansu province.
