Shifogou National Forest Park is located in A'gan forest in the south of Qilihe district, and is 16 kilometers from the urban areas. It has an altitude ranging from 1,950 to 3,124 meters, with a forest coverage rate of over 90 percent.
To its east is Xinglong Mountain Nature Reserve and to the west is Guanshan Forest Park, the natural ecological barriers in the south of Lanzhou.
The region has beautiful natural scenery, profound cultural heritage and distinctive regional characteristics. The core area of the scenic spot consists of Shifogou, Lannigou and Tieyegou, and includes 8 administrative and natural villages with a total area of 42 square kilometers.
The planned total investment of the scenic spot is 3.126 billion yuan ($480 million), including 2.359 billion yuan for the core development sector, 384 million yuan for the urban radiation sector and 383 million yuan set aside for infrastructure. The planned period is 12 years (2014-2025).
Shifogou scenic spot is a pearl on the ancient Silk Road. It was awarded the title of "Flower Inheritance Base in Gansu Province" by the Folk Artists Association of the Gansu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and has become an intangible cultural heritage protection project in Lanzhou.
