Qilihe district of Lanzhou, Northwest China's Gansu province celebrated Lantern Festival on Feb 15.
Volunteers sang and danced, bringing joy to local residents. They also presented martial arts performances and told stories about the history and customs of the festival.
Over 300 riddles were written on lanterns to inspire wisdom and create a greater festival atmosphere. People who guessed the right answer received souvenirs.

During the event, children learned to make lanterns that depicted various characters, like flying birds, leaping fish and fireworks.

Eating yuanxiao is part of the celebration. Yuanxiao is made of glutinous rice, either solid or stuffed. Volunteers sent ready-made food and blessings to attendees, as well as empty-nesters living away from their adult children.
