Continued efforts over the past decade have steered Lanzhou New Area toward high-quality and sustainable development.
Lanzhou New Area is located in the middle of the Lanzhou-Yinchuan-Xining delta region, serving as a "golden channel" linking China to Central Asia, West Asia and East Europe and an important junction of the overland Eurasian Continental Bridge.

Qinwangchuan, where Lanzhou New Area sits, was once upon a time a dry and barren place with scattered vegetation. In the past 10 years, Lanzhou New Area has completed afforestation of 13,333 hectares and water environment restoration of 8,000 hectares of land.

At the end of 2012, the Yellow River Avenue has completed construction. It is the first urban road in Lanzhou New Area. In the past decade, the area has seen 800 kilometers of 179 highways, railways, high-speed rails open to traffic. The transportation there is now convenient in all directions.

In December 2015, the Lanzhou New Area Comprehensive Bonded Zone was put into operation. Relying on the bonded zone as well as Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park and Zhongchuan Airport, Lanzhou New Area become home to five international freight and trade channels to connect more than 60 countries and regions.
The GDP of the area has grown from less than 500 million yuan at the beginning of its establishment to 30 billion yuan in 2021. In the past five years, its GDP growth rate has ranked first among 19 national-level new areas.
A total of 1,080 industrial projects have been introduced in the area with an investment of 528 billion yuan ($75.4 billion), forming a new material and fine chemical industry cluster.
