Residents in Lanzhou New Area, Gansu province, celebrated the 2022 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, a national event for farmers, on Sept 20.

The celebrations kicked off with a Taiping drum performance. Carrying an auspicious meaning, this dance is loved by local people and is listed among the first batch of the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of China.

There were also songs, dances and folk shows performed by farmers from across the development area.

Mass activities, such as a quiz, sports meeting, a rural painting and calligraphy exhibition, and food fair attracted nearly 2,000 people.
The area vows to continuously deepen reforms and industrial upgrading in compliance with the wishes of farmers, so as to create a benchmark for modern agriculture.
