In recent years, the city of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, has prioritized ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. With a cumulative investment of 800 million yuan ($109.8 million), the city has completed a series of wetland restoration projects.
China has been making significant strides in enhancing the ecological environment of the Yellow River Basin, as the country implements the Yellow River Protection Law, according to Li Hongzhong, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
On the afternoon of Dec 24, the ±800kV Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission line from Hami prefecture in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to Chongqing successfully crossed the Yellow River from Gansu province, marking the completion of all major crossing operations in the Gansu portion of the project.
